3 Days 3 Nights in Khao Yai - Cosplaying at Hobbit Place

This is also one of the hot spots in Khao Yai, which is in my list to go when I was there. Khao Yai Hobbit Place looks similar to New Zealand Hobbiton. You could also dress up in various characters to take photos there too. Do you know that you could also stay in one of this huts in Khao Yai? Isn't it cool?

It was a rainy day when I visited Hobbit Place. However, the merchants were very kind to provide all of us with rainbow umbrellas! The umbrellas did help to add some vibrancy to the cloudy day.

Surprisingly, Hobbit Place is relatively small. There are two types of accommodation available. One of them was the colourful terraces which I presumed were inspired by fairy tales, while the other was the huts inspired by the Hobbiton.

The rain was not going to deter me from having fun. I took the umbrellas and went around taking photos. On top of that, I wanted to dress up to take photos there too. While every female, young and mature, were dressing up as either Elsa or Snow White, I decided not to partake in dressing up as any of the mainstream Disney Princesses. Well... I am not really a fan of princesses in general. I decided to wear this red gown, thinking that it was for “Little Red Riding Hood”, only to have the saleslady to tell me that the dress is a Queen outfit. Of course, I took it! I even had to wear a pair of oversized heels, so the dress was too long. It wasn’t easy to walk around in that heavy dress; imagine holding the dress with 1 hand and holding the umbrella in another. At the same time, you have to wobble in the oversized heels and walk on grass patches. All these for the sake of the ‘gram! It was worth it!

Anyway, the rental of the costume was relatively cheap! You pay for a ticket to the rental shop, and you could change as many outfits as you want for the entire day! You could exercise some creativity, posed accordingly for the photos and with the help of photoshop. I am sure your photos would be mind-blowing!

Would I recommend Khao Yai Hobbit Place? Yes! Of course! I would suggest that you come here with a group of friends, and all of you dress up in the various characters and take a fun shoot! Trust me, it’s totally worth it! Factor in around 2 hours at Hobbit Place if you want to do this.

x, Esther

Here are some tips:

  1. You may want to bring your own costume and take photos.

  2. It’s best that you bring your own heels, as the shop does not have enough pairs to go around, and it may not have your size. On top of that, the heels don’t go well with the outfit.
