6 Days 5 Nights Itinerary in Amsterdam and Belgium - Review of Hotel CC, Amsterdam

TL;DR: This is the worst hotel that I ever stayed at.

I will always do my research on several accommodation before I booked. I did the same when I was looking for hotels in Amsterdam too. These were the criteria that I looked out for when I source for accommodation in Amsterdam :

  • The hotel must have a lift so that I do not need to drag my luggage up the stairs.

  • It must be near to the Amsterdam Central train station.

  • There must be restaurants and supermarket near the hotel.

  • The room, especially the toilet, must be clean.

  • It has to be a standard twin room, since my mum and I are sharing a room, so I need 2 beds.

It was costly to book an accommodation in Amsterdam during April. There were not any affordable options available. Some of the hotels are fully booked as well. I decided to go with Hotel CC because it was one of the much more affordable ones that fulfilled the above requirements.

Little did I know, this was the worst hotel stay ever!

I had to place a chair on top of the table in order to put 2 luggages in the room.

I booked a standard twin room. It was stated in the description that the room is 17 square meters. Frankly speaking, I felt cheated! The room was tiny. I doubt it is even 17 square meters. I had a hard time shifting the furniture around the room to make space for my luggage. The toilet's door can't be fully opened because there is a cupboard in front of the door. The soundproofing of the room was horrible. You can hear the commotion at the corridor. Is the room clean? Maybe, because the room was dark despite having the lights on.

I placed the rubbish bin and lamp underneath the table to create space to place our luggage.

This is the walking space that’s left after I opened my luggage.

I had stayed in a capsule hotel in Japan before, but at least it was neat, tidy and organised. This room takes the cake! It's totally not worth SGD 300+ for such room. Thank goodness, it was only for a night. I have a roof over me, so I do not need to sleep by the street. That's the silver lining.

Overall, I will not recommend this hotel regardless of the season that you are visiting Amsterdam. It's too expensive for what they have to offer. Honestly, I think there are better options around. I was utterly turned off by the room. I will not want to stay in this hotel again.

x, Esther
