3 Days 2 Nights in Phuket, Thailand - The Sundeck
The Sundeck is a relatively new restaurant in Phuket. If I am not wrong, the soft opening was in June 2019. I visited the restaurant in July, so it's very new to the scene. The Sundeck is located on a hill, so you would be able to get a good view of the scenery around the area, including some hotels.
We wanted to catch the sunset, so we went to the Sundeck, not knowing if the place is suitable for sunset viewing or not. There were only 7 tables by the edge of the restaurant. We managed to get a table with a great spot because a couple left when we reached at around 5pm. We had some time to kill before the sunset, so we ordered some food and drinks.
We ordered the truffle fries, fried calamari, a coconut shake and a glass of sangria. I gladly give them full marks for presentation. The bar snacks were tasty. I had the coconut shake, and I love it. It's delicious. It's not too sweet, and is refreshing, especially when the weather is so hot. The sangria was fruity too. The food here can be quite expensive compared to other restaurants in Phuket, but for the view and ambience, it's worth it.
The colours of the sky gradually changed while the sun set. It was stunning. At first, we thought we would not be able to see the sunset as the sun was blockers by the sun. As time passes, we could see the giant egg yolk. Sadly, part of the sunset was blocked by the Nook Dee hotel. I guessed if you are staying in this hotel, you would be able to catch the sunset.
I felt that the Nook Dee Hotel was strategically built at that location too. So, whenever a person tries to take a photo of the sunset. The hotel building would be in the picture. This is a good marketing strategy! It's a free word of mouth service.
After the sunset, we decided to leave the restaurant and walked back to the hotel as the road got quite dark at 7pm. You could get a taxi or a grab too.
I went back to the Sundeck again on the last day of my trip. I love the coconut shake! I need to have another one before I left. Moreover, it's an excellent restaurant to chill in the afternoon too. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent. It's a place where I could sit there, have a drink, do nothing and absorb the beauty in comfort!
I would recommend The Sundeck to those who are visiting Phuket. It's a beautiful place to chill and catch the sunset. The Sundeck is one of my recommended places to catch the sunset in Phuket.
Oh! I miss the coconut shake!
x, Esther
